Wednesday July 19th. Dancing to start around 7pm.

We’re planning a Green Lake contra after a 4 year hiatus! Sherry Nevins asked about doing this the week that the Latvian Center is closed (having the floor refinished). It will be “masks optional”, but dancers may opt for one completely masked line. Musicians have the option of spacing themselves to a better comfort level, and outdoors will provide lots of ventilation.
If you have not been to these (or cannot remember the “before days”): We will assemble at the north side of Greenlake, near the wading pool and brick restrooms, on one of the triangle shaped bits of lawn.
(The closest cross streets are Wallingford Ave N and East Greenlake Dr N. This is directly across the street from the Urban Bakery and the group of shops that includes Zeek’s Pizza and Ben & Jerry’s)
Come early if you want to picnic/socialize and possibly jam or warm up. I will plan to be there shortly after 6.
Dancing will start around 7 if dancers have assembled. Open sign-up for callers, with a small battery operated system provided.
Tune selection will be by consensus, though leadership roles may surface by the more experienced. If there are contra dance tunes you want to be played that others will know, bring your suggestions. Two tune sets work best.
Musicians, bring your own chair if you want one.
Everyone is welcome to come dance, play in the band, or take a turn calling a dance! (or just listen, or do everything!)

Rain will cancel or postpone the dance – check this Facebook event or FB page for the latest information
The dancing usually goes until dark, depending on the energy of the dancers and musicians. I’m guessing it will end about 9.
Hope to see you there!
