COVID practices

COVID is still a real concern and we don’t want the dance to become a super-spreader event. Considering the good track record of several dance series and large events in halls with minimal ventilation, we feel comfortable to adopt the following practices:

  • Self-check: If you feel sick, please stay home. If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID, please stay home. We’ll see you again when you are healthy.
  • Masks: We encourage dancers to wear a well-fitting mask as a way to protect yourself and others. Whether or not someone chooses to wear a mask, you will respect their choice.
  • Vaccinations: We encourage you to stay up to date with any available vaccinations as a way to protect yourself against severe illness. The FDA approved new vaccines on August 22, 2024 to target the latest variants and are currently available.
  • Contact tracing: We will continue to collect an e-mail address when you attend for the first time for the purpose of contact tracing. If you test positive for COVID within 5 days of a dance you attended, please send us an email at EmeraldCityContra@POBox.com. We will keep your identity confidential. We will notify the other people who attended so that they can monitor their own symptoms.
  • Testing:  If you have symptoms of COVID, please get tested as soon as possible.   We err on the side of caution and suggest that you get tested on the Wednesday following a report of a COVID case.

These practices may change if the prevalence of COVID changes.
