Seattle Community Contra Dance - an open-band contra dance, featuring an open mic for callers, preceded by a potluck supper (please bring a dish to share). It's a supportive place to dance, call, and make music - beginners welcome! The band and the callers' open mic are led and hosted by a different favorite local musician and caller each month.

A big thank-you to Valerie Cohen and the other organizers who have produced this dance in the past. More volunteers are needed to keep the current crew fresh - see the contact information below if you'd like to help out.

Our last dance before Summer will be:

  • Sunday, May 12th - Brad Reynolds leads the band, and Valerie Cohen hosts the callers.

Free Outdoor Summer Dances at Green Lake

Starting in June, we won't have the regular Second Sunday dance, but instead will have a series of open-band, open-caller dances outdoors at Green Lake. These dances will be:

  • Wednesday, June 26th

  • Wednesday, July 17th

  • Wednesday, August 7th

(In case of rain we will cancel or reschedule.)

Come to picnic anytime after 6 (some people bring just their own dinner, some people bring things to share.) Dance from approximately 7PM until darkness or exhaustion sets in.

North side of Green Lake, near the wading pool - The closest streets are Wallingford Ave N and East Green Lake Drive North. (We will choose the lawn area that night - look around for people that look like dancers & musicians.) Musicians, bring your own chair.
