Seattle Community Contra Dance - an open-band contra dance, featuring an open mic for callers, preceded by a potluck supper (please bring a dish to share, as well as your own plates and utensils). It's a supportive place to dance, call, and make music - beginners welcome! The band and the callers' open mic are led and hosted by a different favorite local musician and caller each month.

The dances will be held on the following dates:

• Sept 13th, 2009 - Thanks to Brad Reynolds for stepping in as band leader - we hope to reschedule Sande & Alan for another date! Joe Michaels hosts the callers

• Oct. 11th - Craig Shaw & Eileen O’Connor lead the band, with classic New England tunes and Monday night jam favorites. Hal Mueller hosts the callers
• Nov. 8th - Devon Leger leads the band with rousing French Canadian tunes Sherry Nevins hosts the callers
• December 13th - An especially festive winter dance: Dave Bartley leads the band. David Kaynor hosts the callers. The Contra-crafters display hand-made items for your holiday shopping pleasure.
• January 10th - Stuart Williams leads the band with fine NW fiddling Miche Baker-Harvey hosts the callers
• February 14th - WB Reid & Bonnie Zahnow lead the band. Amy Wimmer hosts the callers
• March 14th, 2010 - No dance this month.
• April 11th, 2010 - Tunesmith and fiddler Paul Gitlitz leads the band, Mike Richardson hosts the callers.
• May 9th: Phil & Vivian Williams lead the band, David Kaynor hosts the callers
• June 30th (Wednesday)- the outdoor Greenlake dance returns! Meet at the north end of Greenlake (near the intersection of Wallingford & E Greenlake Dr) any time after 6:00 PM to socialize, picnic, or jam. Dance starts around 7 or when critical mass achieved, goes til dusk or when we're tired. Musicians BYO chair. Free! (Rain will reschedule this evening)
• Summer break. Dances will start up again in the Fall, check back here for updates.
