Port Townsend Community Contra/Square Dance

The Port Townsend Community Contra/Square Dance generally meets on 2nd Saturday and 4th Friday from September through mid-May. Check the actual schedule for details. This dance is a thriving community dance which welcomes beginners and newcomers, singles, folks of all ages, and experienced dancers. Great music is provided by the many fine bands local to the Port Townsend area, including: THE QUEEN BEES, MUSICAL CHUMS, COUNTRY CAPERS, and KITSAP CONNECTION. Callers include QUENN CHARRIER, ARRAN SEAMAN, JO YOUNT, AND OTHER VISITING CALLERS. Many of our bands and callers play and call throughout the region. The evening often starts with a beginners workshop from 7:30-8:00.

Location details: Quimper Grange, located at the end of Sheridan St. in Port Townsend. From out of town, from Rt. 20 (Sims Way), turn left at the QFC (grocery store), onto Sheridan Street. Go about 1 1/2 miles (you will go past two stop signs), and it's a white building on the left.

From 8:00-11:00 the dance includes a mix of contras and squares, with some circle mixers and couple dancing.
